This is a little place to share creations from fabric. I love fabric and I love to create. My mom and I started sewing together when I was very young. We sewed many projects together while I was growing up. After I had a few children, we started attending "block of the month" classes. Many of our blocks didn't get completed. Many of our blocks that did get completed never got put together into quilts. So we have many sewing projects to complete along with lots of beautiful fabric to make beautiful creations. This will be a place where we can set goals, post our accomplishments and share some of our "ingenuity" with fabric.

Santa Quilt Goal

It turned out pretty nice!  My kids were really excited about it as well!  They are really excited at how big it is going to be when it is done.  They didn't realize it would be almost the size of a twin bedspread (would just need more length, I think).  They all wanted to help hold it up for the picture, but you can only see the top of Aubrey's head.  Jonathan and Mariahs fingers are there though.
Anyway, just the borders to go!  Unfortunately the outside border is a bunch of stack and wack blocks, so that's going to take some time.  I think my goal this week will be to add the red border and start the stack and wack blocks.

Santa Block Done!

So the Santa block took a lot more time than I realized and with halloween and regular family life, I didn't get the blocks all put together, but I did get Santa's arms and mittens on.  I have to mention that Aubrey (my oldest daughter) was not pleased with the size of Santa's head.  Jon told her to be polite and say that my project looked nice.  She couldn't really do it, pretty funny!  It is rather large compared to the body, and especially the mittens!  But it's cute anyway, and it will be fun to get finished!  Jonathan is the cute little boy holding the block up and he is so excited about this quilt, it is really fun.  I plan to get all the blocks sewn together this week.

Santa Block & Goal for Next Week

This block had a lot more pieces than I realized!  It took a while to cut it out, but the sewing wasn't so bad.  I didn't have the fabric in my kit for the beard, but I had this other white that I really like.  In the picture it appears that the stripe angles (which would be pretty sweet), but it actually goes straight up and down.  I also didn't have anything for the rosy cheeks.  I only had really bright pinks, so I used the wrong side of a pink print I had to get the right amount of pink.  I think it turned out nicely!
My goal for this next week is to add the little red bird in the tree (I didn't realize I had forgotten it!) and then to add the arms and mittens on Santa.  Then put all the blocks together!!  How exciting!
The fun thing about this quilt is that my kids, especially Jonathan are so excited about it!  Jonathan loves to help lay out any pieces, watch what I am doing and see how each part turns out.  It is really cute!

Christmas Quilt Goal #1

So I finally got my Christmas quilt out to see what I had left to do.  If I work at it, I should be able to finish it by my goal of Dec.1st.
I have all of the blocks except the Santa in the chimney one completed.  So my goal for this week is to complete the Santa block.
So here is where I am at right now.  I better get sewing!

Morganson's Christmas Quilt

We started this quilt in a class together.  This is going to be our first one to work at completing.
You can find the pattern here:  Stitches & Sew Forth (located in Payson Utah)

We have finished many of the blocks.  We will post pictures of where we are at and set a goal of what we will complete and by when.  The end goal will be Dec.1,2012 (I thought I better add the year, because otherwise. . . we could always put it off until next year!)
